Subang Jaya, 4 August 2020 – Malaysian car sales continued to rebound in July as a combination of tax free incentives and consumer demand pushed Total Industry Volume (TIV) to a 13 month high. PROTON has been a beneficiary of the increase in sales as Malaysian automotive brands once again dominated the market to account for an estimated 63.2% of sales this month.

With 13,216 units sold, July was PROTON’s best sales month in 2020 thus far and is also its highest monthly sales volume since June 2012. Four models ended July as sales leaders in their respective segments as overall sales grew by 37.3% (13,216 vs 9,623) over June 2020 and increased by 45.7% (13,216 vs 9,072) over the same month in 2019.

Subang Jaya, 3 August 2020 – Proton Commerce Sdn. Bhd. (PCSB), a company under the PROTON Group has announced a campaign that provides fresh graduates an opportunity to own their first car with low Hire Purchase (HP) loan rates.

This unique Fresh Graduate Campaign only requires a letter of employment or a month’s salary slip in order to qualify for a loan, making it very accessible. Starting at just 2.98% the rate offered by PCSB is currently one of the lowest in the segment. Basic requirements for a customer include being a graduate (minimum qualification diploma), be aged between 18-30 years and have a job with a minimum salary of RM1500. The offer will run until 31 December 2020, coinciding with the sales tax holiday currently being enjoyed by all PROTON cars.

Subang Jaya, 29 July – As Malaysia’s automotive industry starts its recovery from the coronavirus induced lock down, new buying patterns are emerging. One development has been the growth in used car sales, which according to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) grew by 100% in the first six months of 2020.

The used car business represents a critical component of the automotive value chain and an area which is often not given enough attention. PROTON saw this as a crucial piece of overall strategy and started to develop a Used Car Management (UCM) department so as to streamline the sales and distribution of used cars in support of new car sales.
